Counselling plays a very imporant role in getting your dream Medical College. One needs to do their thorough research before filling Preference choices since it can be a disaster for you if its done with half information. 

Before the counselling process begins, one needs to organise as below :

1. Keep required documents ready in right format and with attested copies (if needed)
2. Remember the important dates and schedules for multiple counselling process.
3. Keep yourself updated with registration dates if applying for different state counselling.
4. Understand each options/Choices carefully and be careful while appearing for two or more counselling bodies: 2nd round of counselling is risky, you might loose the security deposit amount in case you reject the alloted seat.
5. Be clear on your budget, preference and course, specially in case you are applying for private and/or Deemed colleges. Some college names might be same, make sure you select the right one.

Be it All India (MCC) or State DME Counselling process, keep one thing in mind that Medical Admissions is very much different from admissions to other professional courses.  One needs to choose UG colleges wisely so you get a chance to take benefit of it during PG admissions. Priorities of factors may vary from person to person . If you are able to get top medical colleges then you should definitely go for it, but atleast you should once consider all these factors since you are going to spend next 5-½ years in that college.

1. Service Bond after completion of course or penalty for breaking the bond.
2. Infrastructure of college campus, hostel facilities and its location / surrounding area (for better PG coaching facilities).
3. Distance from your hometown.
4. Prefer colleges where you can understand local language easily.
5. Patient load in OPD
6. Budget for the entire course plus hostel, mess fee and any other additional costs involved.
